This colonial house was built back in the 1890s.
It is located in the South of Mauritius in the Savanne District. The woods used for its
construction came from dismantled ships. It is said to have been the owners of the sugar
plantations home.
It was dismantle in 1970 and was rebuilt on a site slightly further away.
Then in the 1990s, it was renovated.
Today, this residence is a restaurant, often packed with tourists as well as locals.
You may dine in or out depending on your preference. I recommend dining out. Its terrace
overlooks an expansive garden, with an amazing view. They serve local dishes as well as
some other foreign dishes.
They offer a variety of pizzas. The one below is Hawaiian.
This pizza contains chicken, mushrooms,
black olives, onion and of course
pineapple. If you are a vegetarian,
worry not! They have vegetarian
pizzas as well.
You may top your meal off with an
alcoholic or non-alcoholic beverage.
They have a selection of wine, rum
and whiskey, and plenty others
that may be of your choice.
They also have a variety of juices,
ice teas and if you are in the mood
for something a little more warm,
you will love their selection of
coffee and tea.
After a lovely meal, you may tour around a little bit.
You may visit the Maison de la Vanille. This is french for "The Vanilla House".
Right from the front steps, you will experience the distinctive scent of Vanilla.
